ONE SHEET WONDER CARDS

For a recent class at my house I showed how one 12"x12" piece of Designer Series Paper could be used to create 16 cards (3 each of cards A, C, D & E; 4 of card B)! This is a great way to get Christmas cards done quickly. I found this particular One Sheet Wonder in a past Stampin' Up! publication for demonstrators, but with a few slight changes.

All 5 cards were the standard 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" finished dimensions. They were all done using one stamp set: Merry & Bright. The only accessories used were dimsionals & ribbon (Whisper White & Certaily Celery). For my samples I used Wintergreen Designer Series Paper, which is no longer available :(, but Ski Slope, Frosty Day, or Holiday Treasures Designer Series Papers would work great for Christmas cards. Lastly, I used Always Artichoke ink to stamp the images on all 5 cards.

Card A
Card Stock: Sage Shadow (5-1/2" x 8-1/2"), Certainly Celery (1-3/4" x 4-1/2"), Whisper White(1-3/4" x 1-7/8")
Additional Accessory: I use Soft Sky (retired In-color) and a blender pen to color in the snowman's hat & scarf.

Card B
Card Stock: Sage Shadow (5-1/2" x 8-1/2"), Soft Sky ( 2-2/3" x 2"), Always Artichoke (4" x 3/4" )

Card C
Card Stock: Always Artichoke (5-1/2" x 8-1/2"), Sage Shadow (2" x 4-1/4" & 2" x 3-3/4"), Whisper White ( 1-3/4" x 2-1/2")

Card D
Card Stock: Sage Shadow (5-1/2" x 8-1/2"), Soft Sky (1-1/2" x 3")

Card E
Card Stock: Always Artichoke ( 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" & 1-1/2" x 2-1/2"), Certainly Celery (1" x 5-1/2"), Sage Shadow (1-1/4" x 2-1/4")
I did not include the Designer Series Paper dimensions since there is a specific way to cut the paper so everything for all the cards comes from one sheet. If you are interested, contact me & I will get you the information on how to complete this one sheet wonder. Or schedule a workshop so I can show you & your friends how.

HOSTESS APPRECIATION NIGHT

The first Hostess Appreciation Night went well. I was able to give everyone there new Catalog & Idea Book (Finally!)

I also made little gift boxes for everyone with some new catalog goodies, as well as, a small In-Color sampler pack.

The boxes had a few flowers from the Flower Fusion Too, a Designer Brad from the Flower Assortment, a Rhinestone Brad, 1" Circle Holder and brads from the Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware, a piece of 5/8" striped Grosgrain Ribblon in Baja Breeze, and a piece of the double-sided Satin Ribbon.

Everyone wanted to know how to make the boxes, so here is a small tutorial. I am more than happy to get together to show you how this is done or schedule a class for you and your friends, just contact me to set it up :)

First I gathered my supplies: a 6"x6" piece of patterned paper and a 3-5/8" square piece of paper. I used a ruler and bone folder to score. (I used the Hostess Paper Pack from the last catalog)

I scored the 6"x6" piece of pattened paper at 2" and 4". Then I turned the paper a quarter turn and scored again at 2" and 4". So I was left with a 3x3 grid, each section measuring 2"x 2". Then I fold on all my score lines and cut where the black lines are. I use this way of cutting for patterned paper because it isn't as thick as card stock and this fold will give each wall a double layer, which makes it stronger.

Here it is cut and creased.

Then apply adhesive of your choice to the inside middle squares. Try to get as close as you can to the edges so the layers don't flap (I hope you understand what I mean by flap) Also, I don't usually use paper with a lined or one way pattern because as you can see below then each wall is facing a different direction. I personally perfer each wall to look the same.

Then to make the top. I take the 3-5/8" x 3-5/8" piece of cardstock and score 3/4" around each side (I just rotate around and do each side, because for me it's easier to do it this way than it is to do the math *SMILE*)

Again, I fold all the score line and cut where I drew in the black lines. Then I adhere the small flaps to the inside.

Here is a picture of the top and bottom together. For my hostess gift I sponged ink on the creases. and added a flower embellishment to the top, but you can decorate it anyway!

Feel free to contact me if you need any clearification or help.

Lastly, remember to visit my Stampin' Up website for the latest news, promotions, and events. There is an event coming up on the 20th of Sept. If you can't make, it check back to see pictures from the event.

BLOG CHANGE!

Sorry for not writing sooner or posting pictures in a while:(

There are some new and exciting changes happening:

First, the new Fall/Winter Idea Book and Catalog is now available on-line. FYI it is in PDF form so it may take a while to down load.

Second, I signed back up for a Stampin' Up! website. This is where I will post my class details and current promotions. It will also contain Stampin' Up! promotion information, and project ideas. I will no longer post those on this blog. I will be using this blog to suppliment workshops and classes. That way you and your guests can use your cards/projects, but still have a place to refrence them in the future. I will also put all the details and if necessary directions to help you should you want to recreate something we've done.

Why the change! Well that leads me to another exciting change that will be happening soon.
Stampin' Up! is going to begin offering on-line ordering this fall. That means you will be able to go to my website anytime and order what you "need". And I believe, but am not certain, that there will be a way for your guests to order toward your workshop, in the event that they can't attend. Be sure that I am on your safe senders list, because I will e-mail more details as I get them.

Also, now that I have the website again, watch your e-mail for monthly newsletters. If you aren't receiving my newsletters, please contact me and I will be sure to get one to you.

I think that is everything - if I missed anything I will post again later.

Too Simple?

For me, embellishing my projects is the hardest part of the creation process. Luckily, I perfer the look of simple cards, but even I think this one needs something else. I decided to still share this card though, because I really like the layout.

I hope you enjoy.

LITTLE CARD

Here is a super simple card. I haven't had much time to stamp since we got to Hawaii. My little ones do not want to nap! However, I made them lie down and try for a little bit and was able to make this one 3"x 3" card. Luckily, it only took a few moments (it took me more time to clean up) since the kiddos came out and were anxious to get to the beach. I am hoping we get a routine going again soon so I get some time to play.

LEAVING FOR HAWAII!

Well the time has come. We leave for Hawaii tomorrow morning. We will be there for two months. I do plan on stamping while we are there so I will continue to post cards. I may even post some pictures from our trip so keep visiting.

BUGS & KISSES TRI FOLD CARD

Here is a tri fold card that I did at a workshop. Brenda. my wonderful upline did a similar one which was my inspiration for this one. This a great fold and once you get the hang of it, it's really easy. Below are two pictures: the first is of the card closed and the second is of it opened.

The bug on the left is seen through the opening when the card is closed. The dimensions of my trifold card are 4 1/4" x 11" (which is simply cutting a standard 8 1/2" x 11" piece of card stock in half the long way). I then score the paper at 4 1/4", so there is a long rectangle to the left and a 4 1/4" square section to the the right. I find it easiest to fold on the score line and then line up the left edge with the crease to make the next fold, if you prefer you could find the mid point of the larger rectangular section and score the paper to make the fold. I used the slit punch to close the card by doing this the ribbon can be omitted or tied differently. If you have any questions feel free to write/call/leave a comment and I will get back to you. I am better at showing than telling :) Also, I will try to upload some other examples of cards using this fold once we are settled in Hawaii.

STAMPIN' UP! COLOR SETTINGS

The other day my friend, Cathleen, and I were talking about scrapbooking. I am thinking about doing some scrapbook pages at my monthly meetings. I may switch between cards and scrapbook pages on a month to month basis or just do two cards and two pages (or something like that). Leave me a comment and let me know what you think.

Also, on the topic of scrapbooking, I found an interesting site that gives the color codes so you can print in Stampin' Up! colors. This is good for journaling on scrapbook pages or to use when you are making invitations. The site also gives suggestions for color combos and colors used in SU, Stampin' Up!, designer series paper. If you need any help with setting the color codes on your computer let me know and I may be able to help.

Hope you all enjoy! I will continue share the interesting things I find with you. If you ever find something you'd like me to share leave a comment or contact me.

A LITTLE LOVE FOR MY STAMPIN' FAMILY

I hope you all had a happy Tuesday.

I had a wonderful meeting with my upline last night. One of my favorite things about being a demonstrator are the monthly meetings with my upline & sideline (i.e. the peson I signed up to be a demonstrator through and the other people who also signed up to be demonstrators through her). We all share ideas and I have learned so much through these meetings.

A LITTLE LATE

A little bit more than a week later. I am finally uploading another card.

I haven't heard from too many of you. I hope you found your way here okay. Thank you to all who have visited. It's been nice to hear what you think.

Today's card uses the rock and roll technique. This is a really easy one. First you ink your image with a light color then you roll the edge of the stamp in a darker ink. Make sure you start with the lighter color first so you don't muddy your inks. As always if you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me.

FIRST PICTURE

Happy Monday!

I am excited to share a card with you all today. This is a simple card that we made this past Saturday at my "Mark It Up!" class. To create the multi-colored worm I used markers and colored directly on the stamp then I "huffed" on the stamp to remoisten the ink and stamped as normal on the paper. The term huff in regards to stamping means I opened my mouth wide and breathed on the stamp - like if you make the H sound.
